In an impressive opener to its 2019 season Magnum Tonic Wine’s Xplosion Stage show series indeed brought the fire to the National Park in Guyana on Easter Sunday. Pulling out all the stops to ensure a spectacular show, the event, which featured Guyanese, acts DJ Akelo and Lia Givenchy kicked of shortly after 9:30pm with the finals of the Magnum Xplosion Sound Clash. Amid chants and screams from supporters DJ Kes of Spotlight Sound was crowned the victor over Dj Unruly after 3 rounds.

In a small interlude DJ Kes received his cheque valued at US 2000 from Magnum Guyana Brand Manager Edison Jefford. The winner also walked away with bragging rights for a year, A Magnum branded bomber jacket and a case of Magnum Tonic Wine. Not leaving empty-handed DJ Unruly received prize Y.

Shortly after Guyana’s finest DJ Akelo and Lia Givency took to the Xplosion stage to demonstrate their mastery. ‘The gyal dem teddy bear’ was relaxed and comfortable as he engaged the home crowd. One of only two females on the show, Lia Givenchy did not disappoint giving seductive renditions of palm reader and draggin it preparing the large crowd for the musical mayhem that would followed.

An experienced Dancing King Ding Dong took the stage at Midnight, moving the crowd through his impressive catalogue of dance hits. With help from his ravers clavers teammates Ding Dong kept audience members busy as they shampooed, Syvahed, and flung shoulders into the morning.

The Queen of Stage made her appearance to welcome screams and applause from eager fans. With smurfs and smurfettes rushing to the stage. Spice delivered a solid set of non-stop hits. More than proving her worthiness as the sole female headliner. Spice dazzled in a costume designed by Trinidad based Neil Young. The ‘cool it’ singer and her team spice dancers were a picture of perfection as they executed gravity defying stunts, flips and splits.

A real treat for the ladies, closing act Konshens emerged shortly after 2:00am. With dancehall queen head top Anika in tow, Konshens delivered musical punch after punch with a string of hits. Stirring pandemonium from female audience member a seductive Konshens performed the remainder of his set before closing out with pyrotechnics.

“ The show was everything we expected it to be and more. The artistes out did themselves and we are so proud of this staging. Everything ran seamlessly and we hope to improve even more going forward for the remaining Xplosion Events,” said Kamal Powell, Brand Marketing Manager for the region.

The Magnum Xplosion series continues on April 28 with Magnum Xplosion Reggae Beach Party in Barbados.
